Whiteboard for iOS is a digital whiteboard with interactive teaching tools, created to run on Apple devices with operating systems: iOS (9 and above) and macOS (devices with ARM-based M1 chip).

This is a guide made for students to learn how they can interact with the Whiteboard in class.

Join a Session

Class is in session! Take out your laptop, iPad, or other mobile device and wait for the teacher to share the Whiteboard session information. Depending on your device, you will interact with Whiteboard on different platforms.

Whiteboard Portal

If using a computer or laptop, join a Whiteboard session by inputting the provided URL into a browser:

  1. Open a browser (Chromium browsers recommended, such as Chrome or Edge) and enter the URL displayed on Whiteboard: https://myviewboard.com/xxxxxx
    Note: The session ID is different for every host (teacher).
  2. You will be prompted to enter your name. Once entered, you will be redirected to the host's Whiteboard Portal.
  3. Take a look at the interactive tools and wait for teacher instructions to participate throughout the session. (See Companion section.)
    Note: The Screen Sharing and Polls features are not available in Whiteboard for iOS.


Companion App

If using an iPad or other mobile device, use the Companion app to scan the host QR code.

  1. Download Companion on the App Store of your device.
    1. Open the app store in your device.
    2. Search for myViewBoard Companion.
    3. Install the app.
  2. Launch the Companion App Companion NEW.svg on your device (with internet access).

Sign in with an account

  1. Select your role as a Participant.
  2. Input credentials:
    • If you have a myViewBoard account, provide the email address and then password.
    • If you have a third-party account linked to myViewBoard, choose the appropriate sign-in method.
  3. Enter the name of the host or scan the QR code on the Whiteboard.

Sign in as a guest

  1. If you do not have a myViewBoard account or don't want to use a third-party account, join as guest.
  2. Enter your name and the host name (or scan the QR code on the Whiteboard).
  3. Tap Guest Login to enter.

Position the phone so that the QR code displayed on the Whiteboard for Android program is inside the QR code scanner of the companion app:

Participate in Class

Once you have joined the Whiteboard session, you can interact through the tools your platform (Whiteboard Portal or Companion App) provides.

The participate screen in each platform contains the following:

Popquizimage.png Answer Pop Quiz questions presented by the teacher.
The Polls and Screen Sharing features are not available in Whiteboard for iOS.

Whiteboard Portal

Pop Quiz

  1. Click the Pop Quiz icon.
  2. A Pop Quiz pop up will surface with a blank canvas and tools for you to answer the question shown on the Whiteboard canvas.
  3. Use the pen, text, or AI pen to draw or write your answer.
  4. Click the paper plane icon to send your response to the Whiteboard.
  5. The host will receive a notification, and the response will be available within the Pop Quiz window.

Throw

Throw lets you share files or photos from your device to an ongoing Whiteboard session. Follow these steps to use this feature:

  1. Click the Upload button above the Throw icon Header throw icon2.png to select the file(s) you want to send to the canvas.
    • Alternatively, you can drag and drop files into the area with the Throw icon.
  2. The file(s) will begin sending.
  3. A successfull message will indicate the action has been completed. The host can now open your files in Whiteboard.


Companion App

Throw lets you share files or photos from your device to an ongoing Whiteboard session. Follow these steps to use this feature:

  1. Tap the Throw icon.
  2. Select Camera or Browse, and then take a picture or select your desired file.
  3. On the next screen, enter the Host Whiteboard name, or scan the QR code of the Whiteboard.
    • The host name is the name of the Whiteboard session you are throwing the files to. This field is automatically filled with the last host name you interacted with.
    • Tap the CAnew-Icons-ThrowHistory.jpg icon to see a list of host names you've previously sent files to.
  4. Tap the icon to send the file.

If successful, the Whiteboard session host should receive a notification.

Once Companion is installed, it will also appear under the default Android or iOS Share/Send options alongside other apps.

Pop Quiz

Answer a Pop Quiz from a myViewBoard Whiteboard session with your Companion app.

  1. Tap the Pop Quiz icon.
  2. Use the pen, text, or AI pen to draw or write your answer. Alternatively, select a file from your device by tapping the file icon 878ty320ty304ty2-039t234t324t.svg.
  3. Tap the paper plane icon to send your drawing or file to the Whiteboard.
  4. The Whiteboard will receive a notification, and the response will be available within the Pop Quiz window.

Drag the text on the screen to the trash icon to delete it.

Delete lines.

Tap to draw an answer by hand.
To change stroke thickness, tap the pen icon again.

Draw something, and AI will generate icons based on your drawing.
