Whiteboard for Windows is a digital whiteboard designed to run on the Windows operating system. Whiteboard features work best on large touchscreen displays, but Whiteboard will also run on non-interactive screens such as a laptop screen, with mouse clicks replacing touch for interaction. Whiteboard works together with myViewBoard.com to allow screen sharing and livestreaming, as well as personalized files and settings which can follow the user across devices. Whiteboard for Windows uses AES-256 encryption to protect data. myViewBoard Security outlines security features of the myViewBoard ecosystem, including Whiteboard.

To get started for the first time, please check system requirements and how to create a myViewBoard account.

Whiteboard working area

After opening Whiteboard you will see the working area, and toolbar icons. Just like a regular whiteboard, you can use the I-main-toolbar-pen.svg Pen tool to write on the board, and the I-eraser-menu-eraser.svg Eraser to clear writing. Remember not to use a real pen to draw on the board!

Unlike a regular whiteboard, the working area is infinite and can be zoomed in and out, and moved around using the I-main-toolbar-infinite-canvas.svg Infinite Canvas tool.

You can also add new pages by clicking/tapping I-page-management-page-add.svg New Page in the floating toolbar. It's up to you how you choose to display your materials; on different pages, or different parts of the same page (or a combination of both).

Also unlike a regular whiteboard, you have access to a host of interactive tools via I-main-tool-bar-magic-box.svg Magic Box, an I-floating-toolbar-embeded-browser.svg Embedded browser, and can display your existing files and content (click here to jump to section).

There is also the option to use the entire Windows computer operating system with the I-main-toolbar-windows-toggle.svg Windows toggle button, found in the main toolbar. You can think of this like making Whiteboard transparent, with a regular Windows computer displayed behind. Switch between whiteboard pen tools and mouse mode (for interacting with Windows) by toggling between I-windows-pen-switch-mouse.svg and I-windows-toggle-mouse-switch-pen.svg. To add Magic Box elements in Windows mode, double click or tap the desired feature (drag and drop is not supported in this mode).

Whiteboard for Windows supports keyboard shortcuts to switch tools or perform other actions. For a list of keyboard shortcuts, click here.
