Whiteboard for Android Student Guide
Student Start Guide
Whiteboard for Android is a digital whiteboard designed to be used on Android devices. If you have a ViewSonic device in your school, you will notice the interactive ViewBoard has an Android operating system. These devices come with myViewBoard apps preinstalled, one of them being Whiteboard for Android.
This guide was created with students in mind, to help them join and participate in Whiteboard sessions.

Join a Session
It's time for class! Listen to the teachers instructions and take out your laptop, iPad, or other mobile device while the Whiteboard session information is being shared. Depending on your device, you will be given two options to interact with Whiteboard on different platforms.
If using a computer/laptop type in the link above the QR code into your browser.
If you are using an iPad or other mobile device, use the Companion app to scan the QR code (see below).
Whiteboard Portal
If using a computer or laptop, join a Whiteboard session by inputting the provided URL into a browser:
- Open a browser (Chromium browsers recommended, such as Chrome or Edge) and enter the URL displayed on Whiteboard:
https://myviewboard.com/xxxxxx
Note: The session ID is different for every host (teacher). - You will be prompted to enter your name. Once entered, you will be redirected to the host's Whiteboard Portal.
- Take a look at the interactive tools and wait for teacher instructions to participate throughout the session. (See Companion section.)
Note: Polls is not available in Whiteboard for Android.
Companion App
If using an iPad or other mobile device, use the Companion app to scan the host QR code.
- Download Companion on Google Play or the App Store of your device.
- Open the app store in your device.
- Search for myViewBoard Companion.
- Install the app.
- Launch the Companion App
on your device (with internet access).
Sign in with an account
- Select your role as a Participant.
- Input credentials:
- If you have a myViewBoard account, provide the email address and then password.
- If you have a third-party account linked to myViewBoard, choose the appropriate sign-in method.
- Enter the name of the host or scan the QR code on the Whiteboard.
Sign in as a guest
- If you do not have a myViewBoard account or don't want to use a third-party account, join as guest.
- Enter your name and the host name (or scan the QR code on the Whiteboard).
- Tap Guest Login to enter.
Position the phone so that the QR code displayed on the Whiteboard for Android program is inside the QR code scanner of the companion app:
Participate in Class
Once you have joined the Whiteboard session, you can interact through the tools your platform (Whiteboard Portal or Companion App) provides.
The participate screen in each platform contains the following:

Whiteboard Portal
Screen Sharing
- Click the Screen Sharing icon.
- A Share your screen pop-up will appear. Enter your name and the host's myViewBoard Name (session ID).
- Select the screen, window, or browser tab to cast to the Whiteboard.
- Click Share to start casting.
- Note: The teacher will receive a notification informing them a participant is trying to cast in the Whiteboard. Wait for the teacher to display your screen.
Pop Quiz
- Click the Pop Quiz icon.
- A Pop Quiz pop up will surface with a blank canvas and tools for you to answer the question shown on the Whiteboard canvas.
- Use the pen, text, or AI pen to draw or write your answer.
- Click the paper plane icon to send your response to the Whiteboard.
- The host will receive a notification, and the response will be available within the Pop Quiz window.
Throw
Throw lets you share files or photos from your device to an ongoing Whiteboard session. Follow these steps to use this feature:
- Click the Upload button above the Throw icon
to select the file(s) you want to send to the canvas.
- Alternatively, you can drag and drop files into the area with the Throw icon.
- The file(s) will begin sending.
- A successfull message will indicate the action has been completed. The host can now open your files in Whiteboard.
Companion App
Throw lets you share files or photos from your device to an ongoing Whiteboard session. Follow these steps to use this feature:
- Tap the Throw icon.
- Select Camera or Browse, and then take a picture or select your desired file.
- On the next screen, enter the Host Whiteboard name, or scan the QR code of the Whiteboard.
- Tap the icon to send the file.
If successful, the Whiteboard session host should receive a notification.
Once Companion is installed, it will also appear under the default Android or iOS Share/Send options alongside other apps.
Pop Quiz
Answer a Pop Quiz from a myViewBoard Whiteboard session with your Companion app.
- Tap the Pop Quiz icon.
- Use the pen, text, or AI pen to draw or write your answer. Alternatively, select a file from your device by tapping the file icon
.
- Tap the paper plane icon to send your drawing or file to the Whiteboard.
- The Whiteboard will receive a notification, and the response will be available within the Pop Quiz window.

Drag the image to the trash icon to delete it.


Drag the text on the screen to the trash icon to delete it.


To change stroke thickness, tap the pen icon again.
