New whiteboard logo.svg Whiteboard for Android is a digital whiteboard designed specifically to be used on Android devices. All ViewSonic Interactive Flat Panel (IFP) displays run a modified version of Android OS (although they can also have a slot-in in Windows PC in addition), and come preinstalled with Whiteboard.

Whiteboard for Android functions similarly to the Windows version with a few minor differences. Both work best on touchscreen devices.

Get Whiteboard

System requirements

Before installation, verify that the device meets the following requirements:

  • The device is running Android 5.0 (Lollipop) or higher. For optimal performance, Android 7.0 (Nougat) is recommended.
  • There is no restriction on screen size. However, a resolution of 1080p or higher is recommended for optimal experience. Some UI elements may become inaccessible on smaller screens.

Download and install

To install the app via the Google Play store:

  1. Go to the Google Play store.
  2. Search for myViewBoard Whiteboard.
  3. Click Install.

Alternatively, you can use the following link to install Whiteboard for Android:

To download the APK file, go to myviewboard.com and click Resources > Downloads > Whiteboard for Android, or go directly to https://myviewboard.com/download/#Android. Once the file has downloaded, open it to install - you may need to grant permission to install apps from unknown sources.

Some Interactive Flat Panel displays have Whiteboard for Android installed by default. To launch Whiteboard for Android on these devices, click the side tool bar, and select the myViewBoard logo. Whiteboard for Android automatically starts.

Activate

  1. Open Whiteboard if not already open.
  2. Click Activate in the bottom right of the screen.
  3. Click User (Entity Admin is for IT or organization managers).
  4. Next, enter a name1 for this instance of the Whiteboard software and your email address twice and click Submit.
  5. Open the email and follow the link to activate the software.

Congratulations, you can now use Whiteboard!

1Note for admins: Whiteboard name here refers to the software instance name. This is not a user's myViewBoard name. It can be changed by administrators via Entity Management > Software Instances.

Whiteboard working area

Whiteboard contains an infinite canvas and the ability to add more pages. There is the main toolbar, by default located at the bottom of the screen (it can be snapped to either the sides or bottom), and the floating toolbar, which can be freely dragged around.

For basic digital whiteboarding, there is the pen, shapes, eraser, and text tools. For more advanced interactive media, use I-main-tool-bar-magic-box.svg Magic Box. From here you can import local or cloud files, add sticky notes, mathematical tools, search approved web images, use the device camera, view files shared to the whiteboard via Throw, and host Pop Quizzes.

Wireless Presentation I-main-toolbar-casting.svg (available on some devices)

Certain ViewBoard models also support Wireless Presentation, which allows screen sharing from the Whiteboard to other devices, and sharing other devices' screens to the Whiteboard (via myviewboard.com).

Unfortunately not all devices can support this feature. Workarounds:

  • Use myViewBoard Live to share the whiteboard screen to others - this is a separate app, but can share your screen while using Whiteboard.
  • To receive screens from other devices, use myViewBoard Display. This app is preloaded on most ViewBoards. The person sharing their screen does not need to download any software, just go to myviewboard.com/display.

Embedded browser notes/limitations
  • The embedded browser does not keep records of previous logins, history or search. If you sign out of the program and access it later, it won’t remember any websites you’ve signed in to.
  • The embedded browser does not support pop-up pages.
  • Only one embedded browser can be active at a time.
  • During playback of online videos, setting the video to fullscreen fills up the whole embedded browser area only.
