Polls is available in Whiteboard for Windows for Premium and Entity account types. The teacher/host can create questions in many formats and the audience can answer using their mobile devices by scanning a QR code and using a web browser (no download necessary), or using the Companion App. Poll data (questions, attendees, and responses) can then be viewed in realtime or exported.

Pop Quiz is a similar feature, which offers less customization but is also available in Whiteboard for Windows and Whiteboard for Android.

Answer a poll

Polls can be answered from a supported web browser such as Google Chrome. To join the Whiteboard session:

On the student/audience side:

  1. Go to myviewboard.com/whiteboard_session in your web browser. Replace whiteboard_session with the name of the Whiteboard session you wish to join. The session name can be found by clicking in the top left of the Whiteboard title bar (see image).
  2. Alternatively, use the Companion App or a QR code scanner on a mobile device to scan the QR code for the Whiteboard session.
  • Enter your name or nickname, and click Confirm.

Whiteboard host side:

  1. First allow time for everyone to join the session (hint: view all attendees in the right panel of the Polls window).
  2. Click the question you'd like to begin with in the right hand panel (hint: click the Show questions toggle button at the bottom right of the Polls window if you are unsure what the questions are).
  3. Click the play button at the bottom to begin the timer and allow Poll attendees to answer from their devices (hint: click the Automatically start the next question toggle button in the bottom right of the Polls window so you don't need to click play for each question).
  4. If all attendees answer before the timer ends, or you wish to move onto the next question, simply press the stop button.

Hint: When answering a voting question with many options, don't forget to scroll down to view all possible answers to choose from.

Export poll results

Save poll results for later reference by exporting them as a CSV file (readable by Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, and other common programs).

  1. In the Polls window, click Export all answered questions to a .csv file.
  2. Choose to save to either local or cloud storage.
  3. Select a folder to save to, and overwrite the file name with something more memorable if required.
