Question Types

There are four different question types, each with a slightly different set of options. See instructions below for each question type.

Multiple Choice

Multiple Choice questions require users to select one or more correct answers from a list.

To create a multiple choice question:

  1. Type a question.
  2. Add additional instructions (for example: facts based on Chapter 3 only, select all that apply, etc).
  3. Add the answer options.
  4. Specify one or more options as the correct answer by selecting the checkboxes of these options.
  5. If additional options are needed, click "+ Add Option".
  6. Specify how long the question should be active. Participants must send their responses within the allotted time.
  7. Click the check icon to save the question.

True or False

A true or false question consists of a statement that requires a true or false response.

To create a true or false question:

  1. Type a question.
  2. Add additional instructions (for example: facts based on Chapter 3 only, select all that apply, etc).
  3. Select either True or False as the correct answer.
  4. If additional options are needed, click "+ Add Option".
  5. Specify how long the question should be active. Participants must send their responses within the allotted time.

Rating

Use the Rating question type to get feedback, or to measure audience opinion on an attribute or feature via a predefined scale.

To create a rating question:

  1. Type a question.
  2. Add additional instructions (for example: facts based on Chapter 3 only, select all that apply, etc).
  3. Choose a Minimum Range
  4. Choose and Maximum Range
  5. Set the desired unit. For example: "Stars" or "Points".
  6. If additional options are needed, click "+ Add Option".

Free Response

In a free response question, participants create responses using short or long sentences. This question type does not confine participants to a predefined set of choices.

To create a Free Response question:

  1. Type a question.
  2. Add additional instructions (for example: facts based on Chapter 3 only, select all that apply, etc).
  3. Specify how long the question should be active. Participants must send their responses within the allotted time.
  4. Click the check icon to save the question.

Voting

Voting questions can help asses the percentage of participants in a session who hold a particular opinion.

To create a voting question:

  1. Type a question.
  2. Add additional instructions (for example: facts based on Chapter 3 only, select all that apply, etc).
  3. Add the answer options.
    • If additional options are needed, click "+ Add Option".
    • If you want people to vote for a person, click "+ Add All Attendees" to add all participant names as answer options.
  4. Specify how long the question should be active. Participants must send their responses within the allotted time.
  5. Click the check icon to save the question.

Random Draw

Use Random draw to have myViewBoard select a random answer from a set of options.

To create a Random draw question:

  1. Type a question.
  2. Add the answer options.
    • If additional options are needed, click "+ Add Option".
    • If you want to draw a person's name, click "+ Add All Attendees" to add all participant names as answer options.
  3. Specify how long the question should be active.
  4. Click the check icon to save the question.

To get the result of the draw:

  1. Click to start the question.
  2. Click to stop the question. Since myViewBoard will be the one to pick the result, there is no need to wait until the timer ends.
  3. Click to see the result.

Editing and Adding New Questions

All saved questions will show a unique individual question ID. You can copy, edit or delete a question.

Use the + button from the question tab to add a new question.

After a question is created, the question is locked so that others cannot view it. To unlock it press the edit button. This stops the user from accidentally revealing the answers to the audience while using the Poll/Quiz tool.

Gathering audience responses to questions

Once you have all of your questions saved and ready, share the questions to your audience.

Log-in to myViewBoard.com to access the host portal. Participants use this host portal to send their responses to your questions.

Exporting questions and results

After you finish your questions and gather responses, you can view the results and export them to CSV.

To export to CSV:

  1. Click the CSV button.
  2. Choose a location to save the CSV file and give it a file name.
  3. You can open your CSV file in any application that supports CSV files.
