Form perception is the recognition of visual elements of objects, specifically those to do with shapes, patterns, and previously identified important characteristics.

By studying shapes, children learn so many skills that help them in other curriculum areas including reading, math, science, art, and visual-spatial thinking.

In the United States, national education standards for kindergarten include geometry skills such as identifying, describing, analyzing, comparing, creating and composing shapes.

🎯 **SHAPE LESSON 3: 2D SHAPE- SYMMETRY AND REFLECTION**

## Instructions

Grade 3-5 students will learn to recognize a line of symmetry for a two‐dimensional figure as a line across the figure such that the figure can be folded along the line into matching parts.

- Draw lines of symmetry on each shape.
- Identify line- Symmetric figures and draw lines of symmetry.
- One-half of symmetrical shapes are shown on the grid, accurately draw the reflection of these 2D shapes.
- 👉Draw the missing half to complete this image of the butterfly.
