myViewBoard Live is an Android application that allows users to stream their Whiteboard for Android sessions to selected streaming services.

During streaming, the host can use features provided by their selected streaming service to share their session and interact with their viewers online.


Installing myViewBoard Live

Before installing, verify that your device meets the following requirements:

  • OS must be running Android 5.0 and higher.
  • No limitation on screen size.
  • Selected location for saving recording must have at least 100 MB of free space to start recording.
  • No limit on video length, but ensure that the selected location for saving the recording has enough space to save the recorded video.


Use the Google Play store to install the app.

  1. Launch the Google Play Store app on the device.
  2. Search for 'myViewBoard Live'.
  3. Select the official app published by ViewSonic.
  4. On the app's description page, tap Install.
  5. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation.


If you are on a PC, you can use the Google Play website to remotely install the app on your device.

  1. On the device, verify that Google Play is installed and logged in to a valid Google account.
  2. On the PC, open the Google Play store website and log in with the same Google account used on the device.
  3. Afterwards, visit the following URL:
  4. Click Install.
  5. On the popup, select the target device.
  6. The app should automatically install on the selected device.


To install the app on a ViewSonic IFP, you need to download the APK first.

  1. Open a browser and go to https://myViewBoard.com.
  2. Sign in and click the download icon.
  3. Click the myViewBoard Live tile
  4. Click the download icon beside the QR Code.

To install on the IFP, perform the following:

  1. Save/Transfer the downloaded APK to the local drive of the IFP.
  2. Verify that the setting "Allow installation of apps from unknown sources" has been enabled on the IFP.
  3. Use a file browser to navigate to the location of the saved APK.
  4. Click on the APK.
  5. Click Install.
  6. Wait for the app to finish installing on the device.


Steps to enable the "Unknown Sources" setting will vary depending on the IFP model. See the following pages below for examples:

If in doubt, your IFP's user manual will most likely contain instructions on installing APK files. If you need further assistance, see if you can find your answers here, or contact your IFP reseller for more details.


Prerequisites

Verify that you meet the following requirements before streaming:

  • A streaming account that is already enabled for streaming. Some services like YouTube may take up to 24 hours after the initial request before enabling streaming.
  • The latest version of Whiteboard for Android already open and running.
  • You are already logged into Whiteboard for Android.
  • An environment with good network speed.


Supported services

myViewBoard Live supports the following services:

  • YouTube
  • Facebook
  • Workplace
  • Twitch


Before starting, we recommended getting familiar first with your preferred streaming service.

  • Some services will provide a link to the stream that teachers can share with their students in advance.
  • Teachers can take advantage of the real-time chat included in their selected service.


Using myViewBoard Live

myViewBoard Live requires a stream URL and a stream key to broadcast a session. Selecting a stream service automatically provides the stream URL for that service.

Procedures to acquire a stream key vary between services.


Get a YouTube stream key and URL

On YouTube
Before starting to stream, you need to know your stream key and the stream URL first. These information are provided by YouTube.


  1. Open your browser and sign in to https://YouTube.com
  2. Once signed in, click on the upper right corner.
  3. From the drop down, click Go Live.
  4. On top of the next screen, select STREAM.
  5. On the new Window, provide following information:
    • Title
    • Publish Option (Public, Unlisted or Private)
    • Audience Options
    • Optional
    - Description
    - Category
    - Schedule for later
    - Upload Custom Thumbnail
    - Age restriction
  6. Click Create Stream.
  7. After a few seconds, YouTube provides a unique stream key and the stream URL. Read the instructions provided on the Stream setup help dialog.


Before clicking Done, head over to your Whiteboard app to input stream key and the stream URL. Keep the YouTube window open at all times.


Get a Facebook stream key and URL

On Facebook
Before starting to stream, you need to know your stream key and the stream URL first. These information are provided by Facebook.


  1. Open your browser and sign in to http://Facebook.com.
  2. On the Create Post box, click the Live Video option. This should take you to the Live Producer screen.
  3. On the Stream Setup tab, select Use stream keys under the Get Started section.
  4. Under the Live API section, note the Server URL and Stream Key information.

Get a WorkPlace stream key and URL

On WorkPlace
Before starting to stream, you need to know your stream key and the stream URL first. These information are provided by WorkPlace.


  1. Open your browser and sign in to http://WorkPlace.com.
  2. On the Create Post box, click the Live Video option. This should take you to the Live Producer screen.
  3. On the Stream Setup tab, select Use stream keys under the Get Started section.
  4. Under the Live API section, note the Server URL and Stream Key information.

Get a Twitch stream key and URL

On Twitch
Before starting to stream, you need to know your stream key and the stream URL first. These information are provided by Twitch.

  1. Log in into your Twitch account.
  2. Click your username to the upper right of the page.
  3. Select Dashboard from the menu, then head to the Settings section.
  4. Click the 'Stream Key' link.
  5. Click the 'Show key' button followed by 'I understand'.
  6. Note the Stream Key shown.


After getting the the stream key and URL, setup the streaming service to receive session information from myViewBoard Live. For instructions on how to do this, refer to your streaming services help documentation since this procedure varies between providers.

Once the setup is complete, perform the following:


On the myViewBoard Live app

  1. Launch the myViewBoard Live app.
  2. Input the required information.
  3. (Optional) Select the "Record the stream" checkbox to record a copy of the stream to your device.
  4. Tap to start the stream.


On the dashboard of your selected streaming service

  1. Head back to the dashboard page of your selected service to verify that it is able to successfully receive the stream.
  2. Present your lesson as usual.
  3. To stop the stream, locate and click the 'End Stream' button on the dashboard of your selected service.


Viewing the stream after the session

  • By default, each service saves each session. Students can then replay these sessions at a later time.
  • Selecting the 'Record the stream' checkbox before streaming saves a recording of the stream to the local device. This can then be uploaded to a cloud drive account and be distributed to your students.
