How to Acquire Display Advanced Licenses

For users with an established Entity account, you may contact a ViewSonic representative via our contact form. Under I'd like to..., select Request Display Advanced 90-day free trial. Alternatively, you can reach out to your established ViewSonic representative or Certified MSP.

If your organization has not yet signed up for an Entity account, find out more about the Entity sign-up process.

Assigning Display Advanced licenses

Display Advanced licenses can only be assigned by IT Admins. If you believe the Display app installed on your device is supposed to have access to Advanced features, please contact your IT Admin for assistance.

In order to make Display Advanced features available to a specific instance of Display, IT Admin must assign the Entity's allotted Advanced licenses to the desired Display instances. IT Admin can purchase the number of Display Advanced licenses to suit their organization's requirements. A license is purchased for a minimum of one year — the activation date can be decided by the user.

Enrolling Display Software Instances

Before an IT Admin can assign Advanced licenses, IT Admin will have to enroll all Display software instances within the Entity to which licenses will be assigned.

Display software instances console
This console shows the entire list of enrolled Display apps within your Entity. This is where IT Admin will be able to assign Advanced licenses to given Display instances, as outlined below.

Assigning Licenses

Now that your desired instance of Display is enrolled, you can assign a Display Advanced license to this instance.

Display Advanced Overview

Moderator Mode

With Moderator Mode, the host on the Display Advanced device (the moderator) will be able to host up to six attendees in a session, and in this session, up to four presenters can share their screens at once. The moderator can manage which presenters share their screens, and they can stop any presenter from sharing or remove presenters from the session at any given time.

Start a Moderator Mode Session

First, the moderator must activate Moderator Mode for multiple attendees to be able to join the session:

  1. Open the Display app on the moderating device.
  2. Tap the Moderator Mode button Display advanced moderator btn.svg.
  3. Tap the switch at the top-right of the moderator panel Display adv toggle moderator off.svg to toggle Moderator Mode on.
  4. Presenters can now join the session by going to myviewboard.com/display. Up to 6 presenters can join.
  5. Enter the Display Code and One Time Password displayed on the receiving device. Note that the password refreshes every 30 seconds.
Turning on split screen in a moderator session:

Split screen is not required in a moderator session. However, if it is not turned on, only one presenter at a time can share their screen.

  • End a presenter's screen sharing.
  • Initiate split screen within Moderator Mode.
  • In Split Screen Mode, focus on a presenter by full screening their screen.
  • Remove which presenters are in the session.

To select a presenter to share their screen:

Troubleshooting

For general Display troubleshooting steps, please consult the troubleshooting section of the Display page.

Cannot Access Display Advanced Features

If you are trying to access certain Display features but you receive the following notification:

The feature you are attempting to access is exclusive to instances with a Display Advanced license. The Display app you are using has not been assigned a Display Advanced license. If you believe you should be able to access Advanced features, please contact your IT Admin. Whether or not you will be able to gain access to Advanced features depends on your Entity's total number of licenses purchased and to which Display software instances your IT Admin has assigned the licenses.

Unable to Join a Display Session

Session Is Full

If a user is unable to join a moderator or split screen session, the session may be full.

Moderator Mode Split Screen Mode
Max. presenters 4 4
Max. attendees 6 4
Moderator can manage

Once a session is full, any subsequent users who want to join the session will encounter an error message when attempting to join.

When in Moderator Mode, the moderator has control over who is in a session. However, while in Split Screen Mode, the host device only receives screens but can remove presenters. The presenters and the person on the host device must communicate among themselves about who should be sharing their screens at any given moment.

Cannot Join Moderator Mode Session

If a presenter cannot join a moderator session, and they are not seeing a session full message, then Moderator Mode is likely not turned on.

Make sure Moderator Mode is on:

  1. Tap the Moderator Mode button Display advanced moderator btn.svg.
  2. Tap the switch at the top-right of the moderator panel Display adv toggle moderator off.svg to toggle Moderator Mode on.

Cannot Find the Display Code while a Presenter Is Sharing Screen

Two scenarios may occur that result in you not seeing the Display Code.

Scenario 1: The host device user does not know where the Display Code button is
When Moderator Mode is on and a presenter is sharing a screen, the Display menu is minimized into a tray.

To show the Display Code:

Scenario 2: The host device is not in Moderator Mode
Moderator Mode must be turned on in order for additional presenters to join a session.

  • Check that Moderator Mode is turned on Display adv toggle mod split on.svg.
  • Ensure you are in Moderator menu Display advanced moderator btn.svg and not in Split Screen menu Display adv split screen.svg.

Cannot Turn Split Screen Mode On

You may encounter the split screen menu button Display adv split screen.svg is not accessible.

Notice the green circle Display Adv moderator on green circle.svg on the moderator icon Display advanced moderator btn.svg. This indicates Moderator Mode is on.

While Moderator Mode is on, Split Screen Mode is inaccessible. To turn on Split Screen Mode:

  1. Tap the Moderator Mode button Display advanced moderator btn.svg.
  2. Tap the switch at the top-right Display adv toggle mod split on.svg to toggle Moderator Mode off.
  3. Tap Exit to end the session.
  4. Tap the Split Screen Mode button Display adv split screen.svg.
  5. Tap the switch at the top-right of the split screen panel Display adv toggle moderator off.svg to toggle Split Screen Mode on.
