Behavior

The Magic Box displays resources located on all local and cloud-based drives.

  • If viewing a local drive, myViewBoard displays the contents of "This PC" (all local drives and standard "library" folders). Click on a folder to navigate to a sub-folder.
  • When viewing the contents of a cloud account, the Magic Box displays the myViewBoard > Media   folder saved in the integrated Cloud storage account.

To go up one folder, click   , or click one of the entries in the breadcrumb navigation. Use the following icons on the toolbar to manage the view:

Documents

myViewBoard supports the following document types:

  • .pptx
  • .pdf
  • .docx
  • .one
  • .txt
  • .url
  • Google formats:
    • Slides
    • Docs
    • Jams

myViewBoard handles certain file types differently:

  • Imported text files (.txt) are placed in text boxes. Double-click the textbox to edit the content.
  • To ensure that .txt files containing special characters import correctly, use UTF-8 encoding.
  • For document (.docx) and PDF files, pages are converted into images and are placed in the middle of the canvas. These images are locked by default and cannot be moved. Click the lock icon to unlock the image.
  • For documents with multiple pages, myViewBoard creates a new canvas page for each page in the document. To verify if all pages were imported correctly:
- Click the page icon to view all pages.
- Use the Next and Previous icons on the Floating Toolbar to navigate each canvas page.
  • For PowerPoint files (.pptx), myViewBoard displays the following import options:
- Foreground - same behavior for other document files. Each page is imported as an object that can be manipulated on the canvas.
- Background - myViewBoard sets the PowerPoint file as a background that fills up the whole application window. User cannot interact with the background except zoom in/out.
Use the Next and Previous icons on the Floating Toolbar to cycle through each canvas page.
  • myViewBoard for Android does not support opening PDF files with more than 50 pages.
  • To access files in Google Drive, bind to a Google Drive account first. To bind to a Google Drive account, use the FollowMe screen on the myViewBoard.com website.

myViewBoard requires a local installation of Microsoft Office 2010 or higher to successfully import DOCX, PPTX and ONE formats.

Importing Google Slides using the Magic Box

Other whiteboard formats

myViewBoard attempts to import these resources as is.

  • .vboard
  • .iwb
  • .enb
  • .notebook
  • .flipchart

myViewBoard may encounter some issues when importing .notebook and .flipchart files, especially if these have flash dependencies. As a workaround, you can try the following procedures first:

  • Use the original software to export the file to .iwb.
  1. Use the original software to open the .notebook and .flipchart file.
  2. Export the file to IWB.
  3. Try to import the exported IWB file.

  1. Sign in to the myViewBoard.com website and click File Conversion Request.
  2. Upload the .notebook and .flipchart file to convert.
  3. Wait for the conversion process to finish. An email notification will be sent on completion.
  4. Download the converted .iwb file and try importing again.
