Whiteboard for Windows Quick Start Guide

Whiteboard for Windows is a digital whiteboard solution designed specifically to run on the Windows operating system. Whiteboard for Windows is optimized for interactive displays, but will also run on non-interactive screens, with mouse clicks replacing touch events for interaction. Integration with myViewBoard.com allows unlimited users to share screens, as well as cast-in and out from anywhere in the world. Whiteboard for Windows also lets users write, highlight, edit, and transform documents and images on-screen in real-time, leveraging interactive displays to create more engaging presentations.

Sign Up for a myViewBoard Account

To get the most out of myViewBoard, users need to create a complimentary myViewBoard account at http://www.myviewboard.com. Note that Whiteboard for Windows can still be used without signing in. However, some features will be unavailable.

First select Sign Up from the top-right of the myViewBoard homepage.

On the next screen there are the following options to sign up:

Sign up with an existing Google, Apple or Microsoft account:

  1. Click one of the following:
    • Sign in with Google
    • Sign in with Microsoft
    • Sign in with Apple
  2. On the next window, grant permission to myViewBoard to access the user's account.

Sign up using an email provider:

  1. On the myViewBoard sign up page, fill up the following details:
    • Unique myViewBoard name
    • Email
    • Password
  2. Select the checkbox for EULA agreement.
  3. Click Sign Up.

After successful sign-up, perform the following steps:

  1. An activation email will be sent to the account. Activate the account by clicking the link in the activation email.
  2. After activation, sign in and set up the new myViewBoard account.
  3. On first sign in, myViewBoard.com prompts the user to update the user's Personal Profile and Account Name Setting.

Sign In to Whiteboard for Windows

Launch Whiteboard and sign in with the same Google account, Microsoft account, Apple account, or email account you used for myViewBoard.com.

  • Sign In with Email
  1. Provide your email and password.
  2. Click .
  • Sign In With Google Or Microsoft
  1. Click one of the following:
    • Sign in with Google
    • Sign in with Microsoft
    • Sign in with Apple
  2. Provide your email and password.

It is also possible to sign in using the QR code feature of the myViewBoard Companion App.

  • Sign In With QR Code
  1. Launch the myViewBoard™ Companion App on your mobile device.
  2. Sign in using an email address.
  3. Click the QR Code icon to open the phone's camera.
  4. Position the phone so that the QR code displayed on the Whiteboard for Windows program is inside the QR 'scanner' of the companion app.

If you signed up with a Google or Microsoft account and you need to use the Companion App:

  1. Go to http://myViewBoard.com.
  2. Click your avatar, and click Change Password.
  3. Specify a password, and click Confirm.
  4. Sign in using the Companion App.

The Whiteboard for Windows working area is divided into the following areas.

Main Toolbar Overview

The toolbar contains tools that allow users to add annotations to the canvas area. This toolbar is always fixed to the right, left or bottom side of the program window. The appearance of icons in the toolbar vary depending on the selected theme.

Whiteboard for Windows includes the following icons in the toolbar:

Click to show the Windows desktop and use the myViewBoard tools. Click to go back to myViewBoard.
Enable and manage casts.
Displays options for capturing the contents of the canvas.
Click and drag to move toolbar to the left, right, or bottom side of the screen.
Displays options for opening, saving, exporting and printing files.
Displays various tools that you can insert into the canvas.
Drag to move the canvas. Use two hands to zoom in/out. Click again to open the infinite canvas overview.
Selects objects, text and pictures.
Draws freehand lines and squiggles. Click again to open pen options.
Bus eraser.png
Erases objects, based on the last mode selected. Click again to display eraser options.
Draws lines and shapes with different styles. Click again to display shape options.
Creates a textbox. Click again to switch to handwriting recognition.

Creates, selects, sorts, and deletes pages.

Floating Toolbar Overview

The Floating Toolbar allows users to perform operations on the canvas. This toolbar can be moved freely around the canvas area.

The Floating Toolbar contains the following icons:

Icon Name
Drag to move the Floating Toolbar around the canvas.
Switches the canvas to fullscreen mode, hiding the Windows task bar and title bar. Additionally, only the navigational features of the Floating Toolbar are left.
Inserts the current clipboard content onto the canvas. myViewBoard pastes the content as long as it is a supported file format.
Opens the built-in browser to access internet resources. Text and images from the browser can be dragged onto the canvas.

If the canvas contains multiple pages, displays the previous page.

Adds a new page to the canvas.
Sets the language used by the Live Captions feature.
Displays spoken text as captions during presentation mode.

Title Bar Overview

The title bar appears at the topmost section of the myViewBoard program. If logged in, the title bar acts like a toolbar and provides access to the following options:

User account currently logged in. Click to display a QR code that users can use to interact with the session.
Cloud Storage.png
Cloud storage
Indicates which cloud storage service provider is enabled. For more information, see Bind your cloud storage account to myViewBoard.
Wireless Presentation
Indicates if Wireless Presentation is enabled. To manage casting for the current session, see Wireless Presentation.
Lists events logged during the current myViewBoard session
Shows help contents. For more information, see Configuring Whiteboard Settings.
Opens the settings window. For more information, see Configuring Whiteboard Settings.
Minimize the myViewBoard application window to the Windows taskbar
Maximize the myViewBoard application window to occupy the whole screen
Restores the window to the last known size before the maximize button was used
Quits the current session and closes the myViewBoard application window

Customize the Whiteboard Canvas

Background menu options

Use the background menu to change the canvas background.

  1. Click the background menu icon.
  2. Select a background from the following sources:

    Website Upload Off.png
    FollowMe AI setting
    Displays custom images uploaded in the cloud storage account.
    Color Palette
    Sets a solid or gradient color as the background.
    BuiltIn BG Off.png
    Displays backgrounds that come pre-installed with myViewBoard.
    LocalAdd BG Off.png
    Local hard drive
    Use images from the user's hard drive.
    AddBackground Off.png
    Select Image
    Select images from the local hard drive to use as background.
    It is recommended that selected images match your screen's resolution.

  3. After selection, specify if the background is only applied to the current page, or to all pages.
  4. (Optional) To display an overlay over the canvas, click one of the options below:
    Grid Off.png
    Displays a grid over the canvas. The color of the grid changes depending on the background color.
    Watermark Off.png
    Displays a 'confidential' watermark. The watermark may not be visible on certain background colors.
    DateTime Off.png
    Date Time
    Displays the current date and time on the upper side of the canvas. Click the date to open the calendar.
    Click the time to switch between 12-hour and 24-hour formats.

Use Custom Images in Whiteboard for Windows

Whiteboard comes preloaded with a default set of backgrounds. However, users can customize the background using their own images. Users need to have a cloud storage account bound to their myViewBoard account to use their own images.

Bind your cloud storage account to myViewBoard.

  1. Sign in to http://www.myViewBoard.com.
  2. Click your avatar, and select FollowMe from the drop down.
  3. Click Cloud Integration on the side panel.
  4. On the Cloud Integration screen, select the cloud storage account you want to bind.
  5. Sign in to your account and allow myViewBoard to access your account.

After binding, a new folder named myViewBoard is created at the root directory of your cloud storage account.

Repeat this process for all cloud storage accounts to bind. By default, the first bound account becomes the default storage account. Contents of all bound storage accounts can be accessed via the Magic Box.

Upload your own images for backgrounds, magic line pens, and shape pens.

  1. Sign in to http://www.myviewboard.com.
  2. Click your avatar, and select FollowMe from the drop down.
  3. On the Setting screen, verify that the myViewBoard default theme is not selected.
  4. On the Cloud Integration screen, verify that the correct cloud storage account is selected as the default.
  5. On the Backgrounds, Magic Line Pens, and Shape Pens screens, perform the following procedures.
    1. Go to the Background, Magic Line Pen, or Shape Pen screen.
    2. Click Update Files to open the cloud storage location for the specified feature.
    3. Select PNG and JPG images to upload to the correct folder.
Images must meet the following dimensions:
Background Any resolution, but 3840 x 2160 (4k resolution) is recommended
Magic Line Pen Should be at least 96 x 96 pixels. Images are tiled to fill the space.
Shape Pen 96 x 96 pixels, all pen images are scaled to this resolution

After uploading, refresh the myViewBoard page to see the new images.

  1. Sign in to Whiteboard for Windows.
  2. Select the new backgrounds, magic line pens, and shape pens:

    Click the Background menu icon and select your custom background.

  3. Start using the backgrounds, magic line pens, and shape pens.
