To get the most out of myViewBoard, users need to create a complimentary myViewBoard account at http://www.myviewboard.com. Users can sign up with their Google, Microsoft or a regular email address.

Having a myViewBoard account provides the following benefits:

  • Sign in from anywhere
  • Load personal settings and customizations
  • Access to files stored in linked cloud storage services
  • Use all the features of myViewBoard


System Requirements

myViewBoard.com is accessible online, but works best if used with the following software:


For optimal performance, it is recommended to use the Chrome browser (or any other Chrome-based browser). myViewBoard uses WebRTC (Web Real-Time Communication) API to achieve screen sharing across various platforms such as Chromebook, PC, and Mac. Currently this can only be supported on Chrome.
To use additional features, install the myViewBoard Extension for Chrome. This extension is available on the Chrome web store.


Signing Up

myViewBoard provides the following options to sign up:


Integrate an existing Google or Microsoft account:

  1. Click one of the following:
    • Sign in with Google
    • Sign in with Microsoft
  2. On the next window, grant permission to myViewBoard to access the user's Google or Microsoft account.

Sign up using an email provider:

  1. On the myViewBoard sign up page, fill up the following details:
    • Unique myViewBoard name
    • Email
    • Password
  2. Select the checkbox for EULA agreement.
  3. Click Sign Up.


After successful sign-up, perform the following steps:

  1. An activation email will be sent to the account. Activate the account by clicking the link in the activation email.
  2. After activation, sign in and set up the new myViewBoard account.
  3. On first sign in, myViewBoard.com prompts the user to update the user's Personal Profile and Account Name Setting.


Understanding the myViewBoard.com User Interface

Features Available Without Signing In

When users visit myViewBoard.com, the following features are accessible without signing in:

Top Toolbar

Additional features become available after signing in. These features are accessible from the top toolbar. Depending on the account type, myViewBoard may hide some of the features.

The top toolbar also displays the user's myViewBoard name and Login Email beside the user's avatar. Clicking the avatar displays additional options.

myViewBoard.com Tasks

Throw objects to a myViewBoard session.

Participants must perform the following steps to throw:

  1. Go to www.myViewBoard.com.
    Users are not required to sign in to access the feature.
  2. Click the Throw to myViewBoard icon.
  3. Provide the following information:
    • Participant's name
    • myViewBoard host name
  4. Select an image or video from their device.
  5. Click Throw.

If myViewBoard participants are currently signed in to the myViewBoard website, their Board Name will be used.


Use Send Screen to cast your screen to another device.

The Send screen feature allows users to send a live video stream of their screen to others.

  1. Go to myViewBoard.com.
  2. Click the 'Send your screen to a viewboard' icon.
    Note that you need to install the myViewBoard Extension for Chrome to use this feature.
  3. On the window that appears, provide your name and the myViewBoard Name of the session that receives the cast.
    The myViewBoard session must be online.
  4. Click Share.
  5. If using multiple screens, select which screen you want to cast.
  6. Click the message to allow myViewBoard to access your screen.
  7. If successful, the following message appears on your screen.
    myViewBoard.com is sharing your screen.

Inform the host of the myViewBoard session of the name you provided. The host must select your name from the list of senders to view your screen. Note that the host must have casting enabled to view your screen. For more information, see Wireless Presentation.

Manage the session by using the following controls at the bottom of the screen share window:

  • An icon to turn the computer’s microphone on or off
  • A quick switch menu which pulls up other devices and lets you switch to another computer on the fly
  • A screenshot tool allowing you to capture what’s being displayed
  • A full screen button and a button to close the window


Use Receive Screen to receive a stream.

To cast the myViewBoard for Windows screen to another device:


  1. Go to myviewboard.com.
    1. Click the 'Receive a viewboard on your screen' icon.
      Note that you need to install the myViewBoard Extension for Chrome to perform casting.
    2. On the window that appears, provide the myViewBoard Name of the session that sends the cast.
    3. Another window appears with the following message.
      Waiting for streaming

  2. On the myViewBoard for Windows program, verify that the cast icon is already green.
    1. Click the Cast icon on the main toolbar.
    2. On the Present out tab, click the entry you want to cast to.
    3. The myViewBoard screen starts streaming on the other device.

  3. To stop the cast:
    1. Click the Cast icon on the main toolbar.
    2. On the Present out tab, click the entry you want to stop.
    3. The cast ends immediately.


Update settings on the FollowMe AI screen.

The FollowMe AI page contains settings that are loaded for every myViewBoard session.

Some options are hidden for the default myViewBoard theme. To see all the FollowMe AI options, select any theme except myViewBoard default.

Setting

By default, all settings are turned off. Click the toggle to turn these settings on, and then click Confirm.

Auto logout time Specify how long the myViewBoard for Windows program should wait before it logs the current user out.
Show Time Displays the current date and time on the upper side of the canvas. On the canvas, click the time to open a floating calendar.
Show Grid Displays a grid over the canvas.
Show Watermark Displays a 'confidential' watermark.
Always Enable Casting Keeps casting automatically turned on. For more information, see Wireless Presentation.

Settings are applied the next time the user signs in.

You can also set default settings for the following features:

Font Setting Set the font, style, and color used by the text tool.
Click 'Apply font setting to host' to load these settings the next time you sign in.
Pen Setting Set the pen width and color.
Click 'Apply pen setting to host' to load these settings the next time you sign in.

Notes:

  • To use the updated settings, verify that the 'Apply' checkbox is selected before clicking Confirm.
  • To revert back to the default settings (in case you want different text/pen defaults when creating/presenting lessons), clear the checkbox before signing in to a new myViewBoard session.


Cloud Integration

Cloud integration provides options to connect your Google Drive, Dropbox, Box OneDrive or OneDrive for Business cloud accounts to myViewBoard.

Tiles

Tiles are custom URL bookmarks that are accessible via the Embed Browser.


To manage the tiles:

  1. Go to http://myviewboard.com.
  2. Click the myViewBoard FollowMe AI icon.
  3. Click Tiles.
  4. Click a group to edit.
  5. On the new windows, click to enter edit mode.
    • Click to add a new tile.
    • Click to remove an exiting tile
  6. Click to save your edits.


To verify if the change was successful, sign in to a myViewBoard session and click the Embed Browser. The Embed Browser should now include the updated tiles in its homepage.


Background

The Background page provides options to select a default background that is automatically loaded when starting a new myViewBoard session. myViewBoard provides the following background options:

Preset backgrounds After account creation, myViewBoard provides several default images which can be set as default background.
Pick a color Sets a solid color as the default background. Click the color box to open the color picker.
Custom backgrounds Upload custom images to an integrated cloud account for use as the default background.


The following options are available to manage the selected backgrounds.

Set Default Click to set the background as the default.
Restore Preset Sets the background to none.
Update Files Click to open the myViewBoard > Background folder on the integrated cloud storage account.


myViewBoard supports images of any resolution, but 3840 x 2160 (4k resolution) is recommended.

Magic Line Pen

The Magic pen page provides options to select a default magic pen that is automatically loaded when starting a new myViewBoard session. myViewBoard provides the following magic pen options:

Preset magic pens After account creation, myViewBoard provides several default images which can be set as the default magic pen.
Custom magic pens Upload custom images to an integrated cloud account for use as a magic pen option.


The following options are available to manage the selected magic pens.

Set Default Click to set the selected magic pen as the default.
Restore Preset Sets the magic pen to none.
Update Files Click to open the myViewBoard > magic pen folder on the integrated cloud storage account to upload custom images.

For Magic Line Pens, myViewBoard supports any resolution, but images should at least be 96 x 96 pixels. Images are tiled to fill the space.

Shape Pen

The shape pen page provides options to select a default shape pen that is automatically loaded when starting a new myViewBoard session. myViewBoard provides the following shape pen options:

Preset shape pens After account creation, myViewBoard provides several default images which can be set as the default shape pen.
Custom shape pens Upload custom images to an integrated cloud account for use as a shape pen option.


The following options are available to manage the selected shape pens.

Set Default Click to set the selected shape pen as the default.
Restore Preset Sets the shape pen to none.
Update Files Click to open the myViewBoard > shape pen folder on the integrated cloud storage account to upload custom images.

For Shape Pens, myViewBoard supports images measuring 96 x 96 pixels. All pen images are scaled to this resolution.

Download myViewBoard programs.

Click the Downloads icon to open a window containing download links to several myViewBoard programs.


Join a myViewBoard session.

Perform the following steps to participate in a myViewBoard session:


To join a myViewBoard session:

  1. Go to https://myviewboard.com and click on the 'Join a myViewBoard session' icon. Signing in is not required.
  2. On the new window, provide a name and a log in code. The log in code is provided by your myViewBoard host.


To host a myViewBoard session:

  1. Sign in to https://myviewboard.com, and click on the 'Start a myViewBoard session' icon.
  2. The next window provides three options to join myViewBoard session:
    • Login code - participants who are in the same room as the host
    • QR code - best for users who are using mobile devices
    • URL link - send through instant messaging.
  3. Distribute the code to all participants, and wait for them to join the session using one of the options above.


Entity Management

Entity admins who sign in to myViewBoard.com have access to additional options exclusive to entity management. Entity admins (or IT admins with sufficient rights) must log into myViewBoard.com to start the onboarding process.

Using Custom Images

Bind a cloud account on the FollowMe AI page.

Users need to have a cloud storage account bound to their myViewBoard account to use their own images.

Bind your cloud storage account to myViewBoard.

  1. Sign in to http://www.myViewBoard.com.
  2. Click your avatar, and select myViewBoard FollowMe AI from the drop down.
  3. Click Cloud Integration on the side panel.
  4. On the Cloud Integration screen, select the cloud storage account you want to bind.
  5. Sign in to your account and allow myViewBoard to access your account.

After binding, a new folder named myViewBoard is created at the root directory of your cloud storage account.

Repeat this process for all cloud storage accounts to bind. By default, the first bound account becomes the default storage account. Contents of all bound storage accounts can be accessed via the Magic Box.


Upload your own images for backgrounds, magic line pens, and shape pens.

Upload custom backgrounds on the FollowMe AI page.
  1. Sign in to http://www.myviewboard.com.
  2. Click your avatar, and select myViewBoard FollowMe AI from the drop down.
  3. On the Setting screen, verify that the myViewBoard default theme is not selected.
  4. On the Cloud Integration screen, verify that the correct cloud storage account is selected as the default.
  5. On the Backgrounds, Magic Line Pens, and Shape Pens screens, perform the following procedures.
    1. Go to the Background, Magic Line Pen, or Shape Pen screen.
    2. Click Update Files to open the cloud storage location for the specified feature.
    3. Select PNG and JPG images to upload to the correct folder.
Images must meet the following dimensions:
Background Any resolution, but 3840 x 2160 (4k resolution) is recommended
Magic Line Pen Should be at least 96 x 96 pixels. Images are tiled to fill the space.
Shape Pen 96 x 96 pixels, all pen images are scaled to this resolution


After uploading, refresh the myViewBoard page to see the new images.

  1. Sign in to myViewBoard for Windows.
  2. Select the new backgrounds, magic line pens, and shape pens:

    Click the Background menu icon and select your custom background.

    Click the Pen icon and select your custom magic line pens and shape pens.
  3. Start using the backgrounds, magic line pens, and shape pens.
