Web page is a Magic Box feature in Classroom and Whiteboard online that allows a teacher to embed web pages onto the canvas or as external links.

Embedding a web page on the canvas

To access web pages, find the web page icon in the Magic Box MT 2 Magic Box.svg.

Adding a web page to your canvas

  1. Open Magic Box MT 2 Magic Box.svg from the main toolbar.
  2. Click/tap the Magic Box Web Page button Icon Webpage.svg.
  3. Search for a web page by entering a valid URL.
  4. Either a thumbnail or a preview of the web page should appear in the Preview area.
  5. Click Add to Canvas, and the thumbnail/web page will be added to your canvas.

Bookmarking a web page

  1. Follow the same steps to search for a web page with a valid URL outlined above.
  2. Click Bookmark this page.
  3. Click Classroom bookmarks button.svg. You should see a preview of your bookmarked web page within the bookmarks list.
  4. From the Bookmarks list, drag and drop your desired web page onto the canvas.
Note on embedded web pages vs links:
  • Not all web pages support the embedded web page on canvas feature. In such cases, an embedded external link will be added to the canvas.
  • If a web page can be embedded, this means the web page can be navigated by the host and/or students1 while in presentation mode.
  • When embedding a web page, you will be prompted to import the web page. If you click No, the web page will embed as an external link.

Presenting a web page during a lesson

Once the web page is embedded, the host must enter presentation mode to make use of it.

  1. Adjust the size of the thumbnail/page preview while in prepare mode.
  2. When ready, click the presentation button Classroom presentation btn.svg.
  3. The embedded web page can now be interacted with:
    • Interactive web page: The teacher and student1 can navigate the web page just as they would when navigating the web on any other browser. However, no URL bar is available. Navigation is only possible within the website.
    • External link: Simply click the external link thumbnail, and the web page will open in a new tab.

1To permit students to participate in navigating a web page, their edit permissions must be enabled via the Dashboard.
