In Whiteboard for Windows, Classroom, and Whiteboard online, use YouTube search from within the Magic Box to easily add and view videos without leaving the canvas.


Add YouTube videos in Whiteboard for Windows

To insert YouTube videos in Whiteboard for Windows:

  1. Click the I-main-tool-bar-magic-box.svg Magic Box icon on the main toolbar.
  2. Click the I-youtube-icon.svg YouTube icon to open the search window.
  3. Search for a video.
  4. To preview the video before selecting, click the video to play it directly in the search results window.
  5. Double-click a video from the search results, or drag the video out to the canvas.
    Videos are added in a window, which can be resized or displayed full screen.

To play, simply click the video. Saving the canvas also saves the video with the canvas.

Alternatively, you can also do the following:

  • You can also insert education videos from Boclips via the myViewBoard Clips feature. For more details, see myViewBoard Clips.
  • Use the Embedded browser to access http://youtube.com and perform a video search. On the search results, click and drag the video title onto the canvas. The video displays in a floating frame.


Note: Some videos on YouTube have been restricted to play only in web browsers, which means they are not playable in the Magic Box YouTube feature. These videos are still accessible from the Embedded browser.


Add YouTube videos in Classroom/Whiteboard online

To insert YouTube videos in an online session:

  1. Click the Magic Box icon MT 2 Magic Box.svg on the main toolbar.
  2. Click the YouTube icon Icon YouTube.svg to open the search bar.
  3. Search for a video.
  4. Drag your desired video out to the canvas.
  5. Videos are added as an object, which can be resized or set to fit the screen.

In order to play videos, you must enter presentation mode:

  1. Click the presentation mode icon Classroom presentation.svg.
  2. You can now interact with the embedded YouTube player and play the video.
