This page discusses how to successfully install Whiteboard for Windows.


System Requirements

Before installation, verify that the host system meets the following requirements:


Whiteboard for Windows system recommended requirements
  • Processor: Intel Core i7 x86 CPU with clock rate over 3.6 GHz
  • RAM: 16 GB
  • OS System: Windows 10 Pro 64 bits
  • Disk drive: SSD
  • Bandwidth: 25 Mbps or higher; a wired connection is preferred
  • Touch Display: ViewSonic ViewBoard®
  • Other software required: .NET 4.7.2


Whiteboard for Windows system minimum requirements
  • Processor: Intel Core i3 x86 CPU with clock rate over 3.2 GHz
  • RAM: 8 GB
  • OS System: Windows 10 Home 64 bits
  • Disk drive: HDD / SSD
  • Bandwidth: 25 Mbps; a wired connection is preferred
  • Other software required: .NET 4.7.2


Devices of participants (students, audience, etc) who will interact with the Whiteboard for Windows host must meet the following requirements:

  • Operating system: Windows 10, MacOS, ChromeOS
  • Bandwidth: 25 Mbps
  • At least one of the following browsers:
  • Latest version of Google Chrome [1]
  • Latest version of Microsoft Edge [2]

Installation Procedures

Download the Whiteboard for Windows installer.

  1. Head over to myViewBoard.com.
  2. Sign-in to your account.
  3. On the top toolbar, click the Download icon. A new window should open.
  4. Click the download link for the Whiteboard for Windows installer.
  5. Save the file to your local drive.


Once the download process is complete, start the installation.

  1. Double click the installation file.
  2. If prompted, click Yes to grant admin access.
  3. Click Next.
  4. Agree to the EULA, then click Next.
  5. Provide the following information:
    • ViewBoard name. Unique name to help admins identify this installation instance.
    • Activation email. Email address where the verification email will be sent.
    • ViewBoard theme. UI Theme that will be applied after installation.
  6. Click Install.
  7. Wait for the installation to complete.
  8. Click Finish.


Before launching Whiteboard, activate the installation online first.

  1. Open your browser.
  2. Go to the email account provided during installation.
  3. Locate the activation email. It may take a few seconds before you receive the activation email.
  4. Open the email and click Activate.
  5. A new page opens and displays the message that the installation was activated successfully.


After activation, switch back to your desktop:

  1. Verify first that you have a good internet connection.
  2. On your desktop, double-click the Whiteboard for Windows icon.
  3. Whiteboard for Windows opens.
  4. Sign in to your myViewBoard account.
  5. Start using Whiteboard for Windows.



Whiteboard for Windows requires an internet connection to activate. Activation only needs to be done after the first installation.

If you launched Whiteboard for Windows before activation:

  • Whiteboard for Windows displays a warning dialog.
  • Some features will not be available.
  • Whiteboard applies a default background.

If you still have not received the activation email:

  1. Launch Whiteboard for Windows
  2. Click the Gear icon
  3. Click the icon.
  4. Click Resend the activation email.
